Rising Star: Kyle Seyfried
The Class of 2010 was one of the best of the decade in the Greater Cincinnati area. With such a large crop of talent graduating this May, we begin to look at what players will take over as the stars of the local high school gridiron next season with our series, Rising Stars.
Wyoming quarterback Kyle Seyfried already had a breakout junior campaign, leading the Cowboys to a 13-1 record and a state semi-final appearance in the Ohio Division III playoffs. In the process, he was named the Ohio Offensive Player of the Year in DIII and named Second-Team All-TriStateFootball.com.

He passed for 3,452 yards and 40 touchdowns while completing 65 percent of his passes during his junior year.
The Cowboys benefited greatly from his performance. The team rolled to a perfect regular season and the CHL title behind his arm and great senior leadership on both sides of the ball.
With running back Isaiah Nearor slated to be heavily involved on both offense and defense, the coaches wanted to Seyfried to have an expanded role in 2009 and he took advantage.
"We kind of changed our offense a bit. I knew I was going to have to take more of a role as a leader and quarterback out on the field and had to work on my mechanics," Seyfried declared.
The effort has opened up plenty of eyes and garnered the senior-to-be some much-deserved attention from college coaches.
"I am getting some letters from different schools and different conferences," Seyfried said. "It's definitely exciting. It's a different experience and I was never expecting that."
Wyoming had a pair of 1000-yard wideouts this season with seniors Harry Mesiner and Evan Aleshire each eclipsing the elusive mark. In addition, Nearor was very productive in the team's rushing attack. However, they are part of a large graduating class and will no longer be in the mix.
With the departures even more will be expected of Seyfried as a senior. He appears ready to face the challenge head on.
"I'm going to have to continue to do the same thing I did," Seyfried stated. "Go to more quarterback camps and get everyone working together over the summer and hitting the weight room."
FINAL TAKE: Seyfried may be hard-pressed to match 2009's numbers as a senior, but after showing what he's capable of and playing in the CHL expect him to come close. At 6-foot-2, 195 pounds Seyfried has room to grow physically and his football making decisions should only improve.
