OWEN COUNTY REBELS Head Coach: Adam Fowler (30-27 @ Owen County, five years, 30-27 overall 2011 Record: 11-1, 4-0
OVERVIEW: The gold standard has been set as Owen County comes off the school's first undefeated regular season. A repeat performance may seem unlikely, but another winning campaign is very achievable with the returning cast that head coach Adam Fowler has to work with. The year after such a monumental showing often brings pleasant surprises. Fowler is hoping that is true with his Rebels.
Quarterback Adam Hazlett enters his senior year with 4,281 yards and 40 touchdowns throwing the football during his career. His top target is receiver Chris Day. All Day has done in maroon is catch 80 balls for 1,268 yards and 15 touchdowns. The duo is one of top pitch-and-catch combinations in Northern Kentucky. Classmates Paul Banks and Collin Trammell will get the bulk of carries at running back. The pair combined for 863 yards and seven touchdowns in 2011. On the line Stephen Greene, Luke Herrington, Jesse McCracken, Leo Sanchez and Thomas Wright have the experience to weather the storms. Nathan Rivera will handle placekicking duties.
Banks, Trammell and Day are playmakers on defense. Senior Ezra Knox is poised for a breakout year. Help in the secondary will come from Chris Smith and Zach Widener. The linebacking trio of sophomore Michael Wash, John Gainses and Logan Lowe are more than solid. Wash had 34 total tackles and two fumble recoveries in his varsity debut.
