BELLBROOK GOLDEN EAGLES Division II, Region 7 Head Coach: Kevin Basinger (103-64 @ Bellbrook, 16 years, 129-92 overall, 20 years) 2011 Record: 5-5, 4-2 SWBL
Overview: Finishing with a 5-5 record while being the largest school in this league isn't going to cut it for Bellbook. There is no reason that the Golden Eagles shouldn't be perennial favorites to win this conference. They also get the benefit of playing Region 7 rather than the incredibly competitive Region 8. Everything is aligned right for the program, but now they must go out and execute their plan for success.
We will find out much about Bellbrook as they open the season with three Division I foes. All of those games are within the Golden Eagles' grasp. The team will have to look for young stars to shine bright early in their careers at the varsity level if they want to pull out victories in those affairs. Senior lineman Jack Harding and receiver Jordan Malapit are going to be looked upon for leadership.
After starting 2011 at 1-3, the defense flexed its muscles down the stretch. Bellbrook head coach Kevin Basinger is hoping to build upon that late-season surge that saw his team hold five of their final six opponents to 10 points or fewer. The Golden Eagles are paced by a pair of stellar linebackers Alex Oldham and Taylor Wood. The rest of the squad needs to bring the same intensity as they do if they want to continue what has been started on this side of the ball. Don't be surprised if Oldham and Wood play an even larger role running the football on offense. Depth will be a must the Golden Eagles.
