EATON EAGLES Division III, Region 12 Head Coach: Ron Neanen (179-67 @ Eaton, 24 years, 179-67 overall) 2011 Record: 8-2, 5-1
Overview: Over the past two seasons Eaton has combined to go 20-3. The majority of those starters in those victories have now graduated. Those who remain have a chance to show how deep and rich the program is. It won’t be easy to sustain as several players must step up and fill really big shoes. Head coach Ron Neanen has built a program that expects to win year in and year out. Despite all the unknowns and unproven no one will be comfortable facing the Eagles on Friday nights.
Making sure the opponents know that they have been hit will not be an issue with the defense. Outside linebackers Andrew Holderman, Blake Reynolds and end Tyler Claybaker will bring pressure from the corners. Classmate Kyle Shepherd is “Steady Eddie” in the trenches. Adam Slemker showed that he is going to be a force for years to come, registering 90 total tackles as a sophomore.
The inexperience at the skill positions on offense and on special teams is one of the biggest obstacles facing Neanen and his staff. Throw in a “raw’ line and the issues on this side of the ball are more than plenty that need to be addressed. Up front, Nate Metz will be counted on heavily to guide the youngsters including quarterback Billy Ritter, who has all the tools to make an impact in this league. Holderman could be the beneficiary of Ritter’s big arm at receiver.
There are several other kids that will definitly make an impact also.Kyler Wise,Sr.D back has seen a lot of pt at several positions for 2 yrs.Aldin Leaker a jr.is VERY athletic. AWrestler that will play some RB and probably start somewhere on Defense. He will also handle all of the place-kicking duties.Jr. Matt Duffie started at center as a soph.has put on little more size and strength for his jr.year.The biggest boost on the line may be Jr.Dakota Phillips. He is 6'1" 270 and is probably the strongest player on the team.He has worked his b_ _ _t off going from a fluffy 300lbs to solid 270 . The Eagles have 9 interior linemen that avg.about 235-240.Only 2 are Srs.The Jr. class looks very talented.
