SOUTH OLDHAM DRAGONS Head Coach: Jamie Reed (13-9 @ South Oldham, two years, 18-14 overall, three years) 2011 Record: 6-5, 2-2 Class 5A, District 4
Overview: This is a pivotal year in the progression of head coach Jamie Reedís South Oldham career. A third straight winning season would mean that the Dragons are turning the corner and reloading rather than rebuilding after recent success. There are some givens on this team, but far more questions to be answered. Everyone is going to have to make plays.
No one doubts that South Oldham will put the ball in the end zone. It all starts with quarterback Jack Sherry. He is coming off wonderful junior campaign having thrown for 1,722 yards, with 24 touchdown passes, only six interceptions. He also ran for 335 yards and eight more scores. Graduation left the Dragons with many voids at the skills positions. New faces like TiCorion Williams, John Grijalba and Nathan Dearen will get their shot at making things happen. Developing line depth on both sides of the ball will be the difference between a winning or losing in 2012. Returnees Tom Singer, BJ Metcalf, James Breeden, Christopher Figg and Hunter Hamilton make up a solid foundation.
On defense, Dallas Banks is one of the Districtís top players. He led South Oldham in tackles and has six career interceptions. Banks will also be vital cog out of the backfield on offense. Steven Jones, Josh Link and Dearen make up the rest of the secondary. In the middle of the defense the Dragons will look to some new faces to step in and do the job.
