CONNER COUGARS
Head Coach: Dave Trosper 28-27 @ Conner, five years, 41-62 overall, 10 years)
2011 Record: 7-6, 3-1 Regional runner-up

Overview: The Cougars were just 43 seconds away from winning the Regional in 2011. With a returning group that has high expectations the Cougars are going to be a very driven team. Scoring points won’t be a problem. Putting an emphasis on keeping their opponents off the scoreboard will be priority number one.

In his first full year under center, Drew Barker ran for 1,371 yards, threw for another 1,009 with 22 rushing and five passing touchdowns as a sophomore. He has parlayed his efforts into an early offer from Louisville and attention from several major college programs. He is becoming a great player and his hard work and dedication to Conner football is becoming more evident every day, according to head coach Dave Trosper. Three-way star Cameron Fogle, who does it all, amassed 1,882 all-purpose yards, 15 total touchdowns, 717 yards rushing, averaged over 10 yards per carry, reeled in 45 receptions, nabbed three interceptions, forced three fumbles on defense and 35.5 yards per punt. The game seemed to get easier for him around the start of the second half of the season leading to a strong finish. Junior Jesse McKeehan proved he could handle the loaded when he ran for 254 yards and three scores against Franklin County. Stephen Dunaway will handle the place kicking duties.

Leadership along both lines is going to be an area of strength for Conner. Aaron Spencer recorded 7.0 sacks, had five fumble recoveries and was in on 61 tackles as a junior. Classmates Ty Robinson, Jordan Burdine, Jared Kunkel, Darien Woltnitzek and Austin Brake have been through the wars up front. Linebacker Landon Montgomery is the team’s top returning tackler and recovered three fumbles last season. Nathan Ball and Fogle will get plenty of opportunities to make interceptions from the pressure the Cougars apply up front.
