BISHOP BROSSART MUSTANGS
Head Coach: Matt Reinhart (14-27 @ Brossart, four years, 14-27 overall)
2011 Record: 3-7, 0-4

Overview: The 2011 season was a tough one for Bishop Brossart. Head coach Matt Reinhart had to throw a ton of freshmen and sophomores into the fire well before he would have liked. Reinhart is hoping that year of experience will benefit his Mustangs as they look for the schools second ever post-season appearance.

There were some puppies up front for Brossart last fall and the opponents big dogs “toyed” with the youngsters. Now juniors Charlie Britt, Teddy MacDonald, Jeff Steffen, sophomore center Mac South and senior Mike Fessler are more seasoned as well as stronger and wiser. Expect dramatic improvements night in and night out from this point on in their varsity careers. Another player who we can expect more positive results from in 2012 is sophomore quarterback Spencer Hackworth. He was overwhelmed by the level of play after being called upon to finish out the team’s last three tilts as a freshman due to an injury to starter Jesse Orth. Jacob Dennis, tight end Austin Shannon, Blake Saunders, and Jared Martin have the makings of a viable receiving core. A healthy Sean Tieman brings versatility to the run and passing game.

The Mustangs motor till starts with running back/linebacker Jacob Elbert. With over 1,600 yards and double-digit touchdowns on the ground he is well on his way to establishing the Bishop Brossart rushing standards for those who follow in his footsteps. This team follows Elbert’s lead. His on field guidance sets an example that will elevate his teammate’s level of play and confidence throughout the year. Linebacker Justin Schack has all the tools to step in and be Brossart’s next leader after recording 62 total tackles including four for losses as a freshman.

If Brossart makes the playoffs this year, which is likely, it will be their 3rd playoff appearance

Mustangs have gone to the playoffs twice losing both times to Frankfort.

I'm beginning to wonder how accurate these previews are
