The Colerain Cardinals, ranked No. 12 in the Rivals100 entering the week, showed no mercy as they devoured the Middletown Middies 41-14 Friday night at the Cage.

Colerain (7-0, 4-0) failed at multiple attempts to score the first quarter, putting just six points on the board. However, the second and third quarter resulted in huge offensive numbers, after scoring on five of six possessions. The Cardinals totaled a whopping 495 yards of offense, 366 of those yards in the first half alone, giving Colerain 35 points just in the second and third quarters.

Senior quarterback Alfred Ramsby added to the Cardinals' dominant running game by rushing 62 yards and two touchdowns on ten carries. He also gained 172 yards by connecting four out of ten passes. Teammate senior Jackson Sorn had the majority of the rushing yards totaling 126 with three touchdowns and eleven carries in the first three quarters of play.

Middletown's (2-5, 1-3) defense looked strong at first, only allowing Colerain to score once on their first three drives, even after making it to Middletown's 20-yard line, but they could not maintain this intense defense for long. The Middies also had two lost fumbles with their first possessions in the third quarter which the Cardinals used to their advantage, scoring on both recoveries.

The Middletown Middies have their work cut out for them next week as they must face the undefeated Lakota West Firebirds while Colerain heads to Fairfield to try for an impressive 8-0 record.
